Swinging into song Aug 29, 2008

The Insight Sand Perch Small Swing is a true delight for the parakeets. The varying sizes stop the feet from becoming cramped. The sand paper naturally files down the nails as the bird lights and rises from the perch. And, most importantly it swings easily even with three parakeets on it. I highly recommend this product.

All 3 parakeets love their swings Aug 20, 2011
By Jennifer Leising I have a pair of 'keets and an additional budgie who, for the most part, rarely play with their toys. However, they absolutely LOVE this sandy swing. I can almost guarantee that they're swinging on this perch right now. My parakeet pair will take turns with one of them on the perch and the other giving it a push to start it moving.
Personally, I think that despite it's coated in sand which is pretty cheap, the rocking back and forth action that they do while swinging probably files their nails better than my other perches (Living World Pedi-Perch, Mini and JW Pet Company Insight Sand Perch Bird Accessory, Small).
I like to give my birds a variety of perches with varying widths and textures, and they've also got normal wood perches, plastic chain, and rope perches for variety and to keep them from chafing the bottom of their feet. In fact, all of the sandy perches I own have different widths down the perch to provide exercise for the feet and legs, which reduces foot-related injuries (pain, arthritis, and strengthens feet). It's like allowing them to have plenty of shoes - you have a few pairs of comfortable, well-fitting shoes, and a few uncomfortable high heels. When your feet start getting tired, you put your feet in your comfy shoes to prevent foot pain.
Anyway, it may not be the most high quality sandy perch, but I don't know of a higher quality nail-filing perch that's designed like a swing for a parakeet-size bird. My birds love it, and when they're happy, I'm happy.
Nice swing May 09, 2012
By kass-a-frass This has been the only swing my parrotlets have not completely destroyed! and they love it. It swings very easily for them and I can tell that it files their nails (and sometimes even their beak)
Please note that it is not a "Sand Perch" it only has sand-like texture. On actual sand perches the sand falls off and it is noticeably sandy, this swing only feels sandy because of it's rough texture.
I am still very satisfied with this product

not a real sand perch swing Jun 05, 2011
By Dix Again, these products are not real sand perches - just plastic covered with grit. Not at all good for birds. But then it is profit over/before pets.
